wow... ditto to what the guy below said

this should be much higher with its rating. i loved it. it was totally epic like you were thinking. cept at 2:20 it died down for some reason. i think it should have kept going and you should have brought in the intense drums. im glad you were featured this week cause you have some awesome stuff here man.
5/5 but 9/10 'cause its too short and you could have done so much more with it.

ArienV responds:

Thank you for the thoughtful review.
I totally get what you mean how it dies down pretty fast, and I took that to heart with my latest track and tried not to rush it. I think it's an insecurity thing, I don't give the listener much credit, as if I expect them to lose interest really fast.
Sorry for the super late response, I don't check this much. Better few years late than never! :P

bahahahaha

i smell top five material right here. i especially liked the solo at around 38 secs

trashcanman responds:

go go go go

i've always liked this one the most.

the melody is just really catchy and epic. i agree with jake that this would make the best geometry wars song. but i think only with some mixing. the intro was successful and same with the sweeps. the lead was very fitting. however, i think i mentioned it before, the last few measures of the melody, 7 and 8 are just filling parts and should be as catchy as the rest of it. the bass was also nice for the song, it was kinda droney + throbbing at the same time, good.
nice to see another one from ya again.

x-Exodus-X responds:

I'm glad you liked the lead, I layed a z3ta one and the soundfont one I sent you, and they came together quite nicely.

Aside from the 7/8 measures of the melody, what do you think I could improve in the mixing?

Thanks for the review, brah. Wow, a 10/10?! AND a 5/5? niccccceeeeeee

snot bad

since i don't really feel like it or feel its necessary, im not going to go into the details. but one main thing is the bg arps. they are off pitch often. the background sounds should be what they're meant to be, in the background, but when they are off pitch they come forward and spoil the rest.
4/5 nice song. maybe just do an hour or two of tune ups. imma download.

omg, for some reason i think this

should be in the game banjo kazooie... idk why. besides having the same instruments in it as the title its almost the same style as the songs in the game. and i love it. great job!! im definitely downloading this.

SWiTCH responds:

Awesome, thanks!

this is professionalshit right here.

like you, i also enjoy sitting back to play some game or something while listening to the goa radio. its great music. not very popular but the people who like it and make it keep it alive... this song included. finishing something like this in only 4 hours is very impressive. i work with fl mostly and i can't make myself a good goa bass like the one you have here... the perfect balance of the classic old audio recordings, wahwah instruments, sfx, panning hihats and the whole goa shabang! you've done your hw XD. keep this stuff up man, its great.
5/5 clearly.

PERVOK responds:

If you can't get yourself a good throbbing bassline with a 3Xosc, maybe you should try and get yourself a hold of z3ta+. It's a real powerful synth for superstrings and throbbing basses. I used it all the time when I was using FL constantly, but now I just use the subtractor in Reason :D

Thanks for the review!

great! i think this is your best!

i was listening to some of your other things and you manage somehow to keep it mellow, add lots of sounds at the same time, keep interest, and vary the melody all at the same time. great work here. the combo of guitar and sfx is really unique and high quality. you should try a dream trance song for your next song, i think it wouldn't be bad with what you have going with your ambiance.

awesome. i remember you showing this to me

yeah i put the bass all the way up but i still didn't really notice it as much as i was hoping to. i think thats the one thing this is missing, perhaps with the exception of a little melody different from the main one for variety, is the mellow bass. i could hear a hint of a moogy thing in the bg but i think it would do a little more good if it was louder.
the slow addition of pads and intensity of percussion made it very smooth and mellow while still having some punch to it. nice job.
5/5. nine outta ten only because i think another little melody for several measures could have helped.

x-Exodus-X responds:

Yeah, I did show you this (over the phone, I think)

As for the bass, sorry to disappoint you. I had a lot going on in the sub section, mostly on the pads, but I can understand that your speakers are inferior (ha, jk) You're gonna have to show me the moog thing though (I'm on my mom's laptop, so the speakers suck and I don't have the flp to look at lol)

A different melody would have helped I guess. I was kinda going for the flash background music type thing (that's why it's short), but more diversity is never a bad thing!

Thanks for the criticism! see you soon.

can't go wrong with this can ya?

songs like this get boring. this is that one style that follows a perfect formula and get very predictable, boring, and has generic, badly thought out melodies.
now there are actually a lot of songs in this genre but remember, a song isn't all about all the best instruments. like the little wah wah thing that came in first at about 4 seconds- it's cool but we've all heard it before. same with the main synth. if you wanna make this better, add your own thing to it. im pretty sure everyone has something different they can add to styles like this and that's what allows people to make it big. if you add your own stuff im sure this will be a hit.
4/5 it was mastered well. but i just rated it a 6 because i didn't like it.

-crepth

CLKIN responds:

lololol i can master better than that
thanks for reviewing :]

nice to see another goa fan on the portal!!

man. you have no idea... there are like no goa songs that i've heard on the portal. you're getting the idea of it down but like others were saying its more about a loud driving bass. and i think you should have added more sfx. Slower transitions and break measures are also what make goa so awesome... but since it wasn't goa alone that you were going for it's cool. still i think adding those things could have made it less repetitive.
5/5 great job. im going to post a song similar to this in a few weeks. if it occurs to you, go check it out.

Spiriax responds:

Thanks man!

At first, I aimed at "commercial trance", the Tiesto-like trance or what you'd call it, but I really can't break out from my goa / psy-habits so it gets a little like that. Then I decided that it very well could be a mix instead.
I also agree that this song has some flaws, but I'm just glad it was featured at the frontpage. What a shock!

Of course I will! Thanks crepth.
